The number of doctors per bed varies widely.

The bed count at Massachusetts General is 947, states U.S. News and World Report. The facility has 2,874 doctors. Brigham and Women's Hospital has 779 beds and 3,214 doctors. Six hundred and forty-nine beds are in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Almost 2,000 physicians work there. Boston Medical Center's 991 doctors have 454 beds to fill. This facility, like the other three hospitals, primarily focuses on general medicine and surgery. Bed count and doctor totals are as of June 2015.
