As of 2015, the largest muskie ever caught was 58 inches long. It had a girth of 29 inches and it weighed 58 pounds.

The record muskie was caught by Joseph Seeberger in October of 2012. He was fishing with a friend and his brother at Lake Bellaire in Michigan. There are claims that a man caught a bigger muskie in the 1940s, but this has never been proven. That muskie reportedly weighed 69 pounds and was caught in Wisconsin. This muskie was supposedly caught using a firearm so there is controversy surrounding the fact whether it was the biggest muskie caught during fishing.
