Is laser treatment an effective way to treat fungus?

Some studies and lab tests claim that laser treatments eliminate nail fungus, but a study published in 2013 in The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology disagrees, according to The New York Times. The study was produced by the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Although the procedure was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2009, many doctors remain skeptical due to a lack of evidence, as the New York Times explains. In addition, the research appears to be biased because the majority of the clinical trails were funded by the laser companies, were small and were not controlled or random.
