Are there laws for legal separation in Texas?

There are no laws for legal separation in Texas as of 2014. For a married couple who has not yet decided to file for divorce, informal separations are often arranged.
The state of Texas has no provisions for marital court battles concerning legal separations. The two parties involved are not fully protected by the law since no documentation validates a legal separation. Couples often enter into written agreements regarding spousal and child support and the division of assets and liabilities. The terms in the agreement only become binding on the court if a judge decides that the terms are just and right. This written agreement can be made as a reference if couples decide to file for divorce in the future.
