Who is the leader of the opposition in the Indian Parliament?

As of 2014, the Indian parliament has no formal opposition leader due to the failure of any of the opposition parties to win the required 10 percent of votes to qualify as the official opposition. Without an official opposition, there is no leader.

The Indian Parliament has a total of 545 members. Of these, 543 are elected and two appointed. The governing party in India as of October 2014 is Bharatiya Janata Party with 282 seats. The second most popular party is the Indian National Party of Sonia Ghandi, with 44 seats. The position of leader of opposition is a statutory position that first received formal recognition through an act of Parliament in 1977.
