At least 100 different artists recorded versions of "Hallelujah" since its release in 1984. The most famous version is arguably Jeff Buckley's 1994 version, but the former Velvet Underground member John Cale also recorded a popular version for the children's animated movie "Shrek." Alexander Burke sang the song in the final of the "The X-Factor."
Hallelujah means "praise Yah" in Hebrew. The Israeli Defense Forces radio channel plays the song every Saturday night.
