The Lewis structure for HNO3 has an N with two single lines, each connecting to an O, and a double line connecting to another O. The O that is connected to the N with a double line is also connected by a single line to an H.
In accordance with the octet rule, each O connected by a single line to the N has three pairs of dots around it. The O connected to the N by a double line has one pair of dots around it. The Lewis structure can be completed by adding the formal charges in parentheses to the element symbols. HNO3 is the formula for nitric acid. It has additional resonance structures that can be written with a Lewis structure.
