What is Lexia Reading for kids?

Kids in elementary through high school can use the computer-based Lexia Reading program to strengthen their reading skills and learn to read independently. The program focuses on the areas of phonological awareness, comprehension, phonics, fluency and vocabulary. It is designed for students whose poor reading skills are putting them at risk of dropping out of school or not succeeding in their classes.

Students take an initial test to determine where they need the most instruction and, as they progress through the program, get feedback on their progress. Teachers and parents can use the feedback to adjust the program or increase its frequency of use. The program engages students through instruction similar to playing a video game, and the goal is to get students reading at their current grade level or higher.
