Who makes LG TVs?

LG televisions are produced by LG Electronics and its affiliate LG Display. These companies are descendants of the Korean electronics manufacturer Goldstar. LG Display also manufactures LCD panels used by other manufacturers, such as Asus, Dell and Apple, including the small screens of iPods and iPads.

Korean manufacturer Goldstar merged with chemical conglomerate Lucky Chemicals in 1995, at which time the joint company changed its name to LG. The display division was founded in 1999 in a joint venture with Dutch electronics company Philips as LG Philips LCD. LG has owned the display division outright since 2008, at which time it renamed the division to LG Display.
