The life expectancy of a man diagnosed early with AIDS is 75 years, according to The AIDS Beacon. Life expectancy estimates are not based on how many years ago he was diagnosed, but rather on his viral load at the time of diagnosis and his use of antiretroviral therapy.
The AIDS Beacon points out that a man diagnosed late with AIDS has a life expectancy of 71.5 years, compared to the general population without AIDS, whose life expectancy is 82 years. According to AIDSMap, a man who started antiretroviral therapy in 2008 would have a life expectancy of 77 years, and a female with the same stats would reach an average of 81 years.
