Scholarships.com has an extensive list of college scholarships organized by type. As of 2015, the website of the Discus Awards also curates a list of scholarships available for each academic year, geared heavily toward academic and athletic scholarships.

The majority of scholarships on the lists are merit-and need-based, meaning that they are awarded based on factors such as grade point average and scholastic achievement, as well as the student's financial situation. Other scholarships are awarded based on personal characteristics or college plans. Some examples of these include scholarships for single mothers or scholarships awarded based on an essay about an issue related to the environment.
