Lladró figurines are made out of porcelain that is molded by plaster casts. Detailed figurines may have hundreds of casts where porcelain is formed, then removed and reassembled into the final shape. The porcelain figurine then receives detailed sculpting, painting and varnishing before being fired in a kiln and finished.

Lladró is known for the quality of its porcelain. The company makes all of its figurines in a large artisan complex called the City of Porcelain. Located in Valencia, Spain, the City of Porcelain contains multiple working artist studios across the complex's extensive grounds. Visitors are allowed to visit these workshops to watch the creation process for Lladró porcelain figurines.
