How long after the expiration date can you eat eggs?

Refrigerated eggs normally keep another two to three weeks past their expiration date. Eggs are usually labeled with a sell-by date or an expiration date, but both dates mark the date by which they must be sold.
An easy way to test an egg to see whether it is still good is to place the egg in a bowl full of water. If the egg lies on its side on the bottom of the bowl, it is very fresh. If it stands up on the bottom of the bowl, it is starting to get old but is still safe to consume. Eggs that float should be discarded as they are probably bad.
