Settlement proceeds are usually disbursed following final paperwork required to be submitted by the court, states AllLaw.com. Depending on the court itself, that can take anywhere from 30 to 60 days.
The court requires that releases be filed in regards to the court case. This is a legal document that is signed by all parties involved wherein all parties are releasing each other of any wrongdoing, according to AllLaw.com. Once those documents have been approved and signed by all parties, the court reviews and approves them as well. From there, unless there are any pending issues regarding the settlement, the proceeds are distributed.
