How long does bee sting pain last?

Most persons experience relief within an hour or two of a bee sting. Moderate reactions may linger for five to 10 days in some individuals, says Mayo Clinic.

Painful stings may be soothed by topical applications, such as calamine lotion, antihistamine creams or a mixture of baking soda and water. These treatments should also improve swelling that accompanies the sting; pain relievers containing ibuprofen or acetaminophen may be used in conjunction for additional relief, states Mayo Clinic.

Rarely, pain accompanied by breathing difficulty of fainting and dizziness are signs of a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis and may be life-threatening, according to WebMD.
