The gladiolus has a bloom season from July to the first frost, according to About.com flowers expert Jamie McIntosh. Gardeners can ensure continuous blooming by planting gladiolus corms every two weeks.
Gladioli prefer full sun conditions and grow on tall spikes three to four feet high. They are annuals that can be perennials in USDA Hardiness Zones of 8 and warmer. Corms should be planted six inches into warm, well-draining soil. After their blooming season is complete, the bulbs can be uprooted, dried and stored for the next season. Gladiolus bulbs should be kept in a cool, dry location for the best results.
