Odysseus spent 7 years on Calypso's island as her prisoner. The name of the island is Ogygia, and Calypso kept him on the island to try and force him to be her immortal husband.
Calypso's singing enchants Odysseus, and the two begin an intimate relationship. However, there quickly comes a time when Odysseus wants things to change. He desperately wants to tell Calypso that he needs to be with his wife Penelope. Eventually, after the gods tell her to free Odysseus, she agrees and sends him on his way with some bread, some wine, and the items to build a raft.
