Polyp removal surgery is usually an outpatient surgery, according to WakeMed.The patient may be able to leave the hospital the day the surgery is done.
Before the surgery, medications may need to be stopped to prevent any complications. The doctor may also say to not eat or drink anything prior to the procedure if the patient needs anesthesia. There may be some pain and discomfort after the removal of the polyps. The pain should only persist for a few days afterwards. The patient should be completely healed within 2 weeks. Follow the doctor's orders, do not lift anything heavy. Return to the doctor for follow up before continuing with any strenuous activities.
