How long does recovery from retinal tear repair take?
By Forinfos - 08/05/2026 - 0 comments
Patients who undergo surgery for a retinal tear spend a few hours in an outpatient center or hospital before returning home and can usually return to normal activity within one to two weeks, according to FCI Opthalmics. Recovery from the retinal repair may involve inflamed, swollen or sore eyes.
Most patients experience very little pain after retinal repair surgery, explains FCI Opthalmics. Physicians recommend wearing an eye patch and using eye drops to keep the eyes protected, moist and sanitized. During recovery, some patients may experience discharge from the eye. Most patients follow up with a physician the day after surgery and within two or three months to monitor progress.
