The average length of hospital stay after surgery for a dropped bladder is one to two days, according to WebMD. Sometimes the patient leaves the hospital before removal of the catheter.
Normal urinary functions return within two to six weeks of surgery. Resumption of normal activities following bladder surgery generally takes six weeks, explains WebMD. For the first three months following surgery, the patient avoids strenuous activities such as lifting heavy items or extended periods of standing. Patients generally increase their activity levels over a period of time. After the patient resumes normal activities, straining and lifting heavy items may cause the original problem to reoccur.
