The time it takes for a sexually transmitted disease, or STD, to appear depends on the type of STD a person has contracted. The different types of STDs include chlamydia, genital warts, genital herpes, syphilis, gonorrhea, HIV, pubic lice and scabies.
Mild symptoms of HIV appear within months, while severe ones may take up to 10 years. Gonorrhea may take up to 10 days for its symptoms to appear. It takes four to seven days for the symptoms of genital herpes to show, as stated by NHS. For chlamydia, it will take one to three weeks for one to experience the signs. First symptoms of syphilis can take between 10 day days to three months to appear.
