How do you look up parcel identification numbers?

To find the parcel identification number, or property tax identification number, look on the property tax bill, look on the land deed or search the local tax collector's website using the property address or owner's last name. If these methods don't work, call the tax collector's or assessor's office.
Counties and cities assign parcel numbers to plots of land in order to organize accounts for the collection of property taxes. These numbers usually contain digits representing the city and subdivision where the land is located. The county or city uses the property taxes to fund schools, road maintenance and other projects.
