The Los Angeles County Fire Department is led by Fire Chief Daryl L. Osby as of 2015. The department is one of the largest in the country and serves over 4 million residents and commercial customers across 58 cities, covering over 2,000 square miles.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department has a stated mission to protect lives, the environment and property by providing skilled and cost-effective fire protection and life safety services, including public safety, firefighting, emergency medical services, air operations, and urban search and rescue. Other members of the executive leadership team include Acting Chief Deputy, David R. Richardson, Jr. and Chief Deputy of Operations, Dawnna Lawrence.
