Lotus 1-2-3 is a discontinued spreadsheet software package that was popular in the 1980s, developed by Lotus Software. The Windows edition was first released for Windows 3.0 in 1991. Lotus Software marketed the program as a three-in-one solution for database functionality, spreadsheet editing and chart rendering, hence the "1-2-3" name.
Lotus 1-2-3 was first released for DOS in 1983 and competed against VisiCalc, one of the first spreadsheet software packages. The last milestone release of Lotus 1-2-3 was Millennium Edition 9.8 for Windows 2000, released in 2002. IBM acquired Lotus Software in 1995 and provided support for Lotus 1-2-3 until it was finally dropped in June 2014.
