What does Louisiana's treasury do with property that is unclaimed?
By Forinfos - 27/03/2026 - 0 comments
The Louisiana Department of the Treasury maintains a database of unclaimed property. This database includes cash, stocks, bonds, securities and insurance benefits held by the state of Louisiana.
Businesses that are unable to contact property owners to return funds such as damage deposits or overpayment of accounts turn the funds over to the Louisiana State Treasury. Individuals and businesses can search the database for unclaimed funds. There is no charge to search a name through the database. Assets that are unclaimed are identified by name, last known address and Social Security number. Once a claim is filed, its status can also be monitored.
