Low lymph levels in a complete blood count can indicate viral infections that are affecting the bone marrow or even sepsis, as claimed by Dr. Dawn Ruben. Lymph, also known as lymphocytes, are white blood cells with the job of fighting off foreign bodies and infections. Lymphocytes are also responsible for developing antibodies that can help identify future attacks by the same foreign bodies and infections.
About 20 to 40 percent of all blood cells within the body are lymphocytes. According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, normal lymphocyte levels in a complete blood count for adults should fall between 1,000 to 4,800 lymphocytes per microliter.
