Mother Theresa was born in Skopje, Macedonia and remains a popular folk figure there to this day. During the reign of Alexander the Great, the ancient kingdom of Macedonia was one of the most powerful states in the world. After Alexander's death, the Macedonian empire broke apart.
Though she was of Albanian ethnicity, Mother Theresa was born in 1910 in the city of Skopje, Macedonia. Skopje is the capital city of Macedonia, and today it houses a museum dedicated to the life of Mother Theresa. Macedonia is also the most mountainous nation on Earth, possessing at least 34 mountains with peaks higher than 6,561 feet above sea level. Many Macedonian mountains have never been successfully climbed, as of 2015.
