What are the major regions in Tunisia?

Major regions in Tunisia include the Dorsal, the Tell, the Khroumerie, the Sahel and the steppes. The Dorsal is an area of land that reaches from the country's border with Algeria to Cape Bon near the Mediterranean Sea. The Dorsal is an arm of the Atlas Mountains.

The plains and low hills of the Tell are also extensions of the Atlas mountains, and they are located north of the Dorsal. The Khroumerie is part of the Tell, but its land is high enough above sea level for it to receive snow during the winter. The Sahel is located along the coast of the Mediterranean and is known for its olive groves. The steppes are located inland, between the Dorsal and the hills just below the city of Gafsa.
