Major cities and towns in Pennsylvania include Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Allentown, Erie and Scranton. The capital of the state is Harrisburg. As of 2015, Philadelphia is the largest city in the state, with a population of over 1 million people.
In addition to being Pennsylvania's largest city, Philadelphia also played a major role in the founding of the United States of America. It was, at one time, the seat of the U.S. government. Philadelphia also has the honor of being the site of America's first hospital, first zoo, first newspaper and first university. It is also home to the famous Liberty Bell.
