To make a rice heating pad, sew a small rectangular bag out of fabric, fill it with rice, buckwheat or dried cherry pits and sew the top edge of the bag closed. Alternatively, fill an old sock with rice.
To make a rice heating pad out of fabric, use the following steps.
- Cut a rectangle out of fabric
- Sew a small bag
- Fill the heating pad
- Sew the bag closed
Cut a 20-by-14-inch rectangle from some fabric.
Fold the piece of fabric in half with the right sides facing in. Sew along one short side and one long side to make a small bag. Hem the top of the bag. Clip the corners, turn the bag so that the fabric is facing right-side out and push out the corners of the bag.
Fill the heating pad halfway with rice, buckwheat or dried cherry pits.
Sew along the top of the bag to seal in the filling and finish the heating pad.
To make a heating pad using a sock, run through the following steps.
- Pour rice into a sock
- Close up the top of the sock
Pour rice into a large sock, leaving some room at the top.
To close up the top of the sock, either sew it or tie it shut with some string or an elastic band. To use the pad, heat it up in the microwave for 2 minutes.
