Varta, a German automotive battery manufacturing company, produces the batteries used in Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Varta also produces the Mercedes-Benz BlueEFFICIENCY battery, the trademark of the luxury brand's passenger cars.

Varta was founded in 1887 and as of 2015 is owned by Johnson Controls Power Solutions, who were the first company to make lithium-ion batteries used in hybrid vehicles. The company has collaborative contracts with top luxury vehicle manufacturers around the world such as Audi and BMW. Varta also produces batteries for other types of vehicles, including heavy commercial vehicles and marine vessels. During World War II, Varta made the batteries for German submarines.
