How many arteries are in the human heart?
By Forinfos - 16/01/2026 - 0 comments
The human heart contains two primary arteries, which are called coronary arteries. The purpose of these arteries is to transport oxygenated blood to the heart, which allows it to function effectively. The two main arteries are called the left main coronary artery (LMCA) and the right coronary artery (RCA).
The left main coronary artery and right coronary artery are further divided into other arteries within the heart. The left anterior descending artery and the circumflex artery stem from the LMCA, while the right posterior descending artery and the acute marginal artery stem from the RCA. These divisions ensure a blood supply to the entire heart.
