Nitrogen was discover in 1772 by Daniel Rutherford of Scotland. This non-metal element has as its symbol the letter N. It has no color, odor or taste. It is basically an inert gas found in such things as fertilizer, explosives and even food. Nitrogen gas comprises 78.1 percent of the Earth's atmosphere, and the human body is 3 percent nitrogen.
