How many Ford dealerships are in the United States?

Ford Motor Company operates more than 3,100 dealerships throughout the United States, according to an AutoTrader.com report based on findings by analytics firm Urban Science. That number was accurate at the end of 2010.

AutoTrader.com reports that the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011 marked the first time in history that Ford maintained more domestic dealerships than competitor Chevrolet. That year, Chevrolet had lost 372 dealerships, all of which closed their doors permanently. It was also the year following Chevrolet's parent company General Motors filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The financial hurdle let Ford close in on the market share.
