How many millionaires lived in the United States in 2015?

A research report from Boston Consulting Group indicated there were roughly 7 million millionaires in the United States in 2014, reports Fortune. The study places the United States at the top of the worldwide millionaire list, which totals roughly 17 million. China comes in second at about 4 million.

A separate study published by Spectrem Group consultants in 2015 stated there were 10.1 million households in the United States with investable assets above $1 million, notes CNCB. This criteria excludes the value of a household's primary residence.The Spectrem Group states that rising real estate values and climbing stock markets helped create nearly 500,000 new millionaires in 2014.
