How many nuclear power plants are in the United States?

There are 62 commercially operating nuclear power plants in the United States as of 2014. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), these plants have an accumulative total of 100 nuclear reactors, with 35 of the plants harboring two or more reactors.
Nuclear power plants in the U.S. are spread throughout 31 states, with large concentrations on the East Coast. As of 2014, plants in Western states are limited to California, Arizona and Washington. Four nuclear power reactors were taken out of service in 2013, including one reactor at the Crystal River plant in Florida, one at the Kewaunee plant in Wisconsin and two at the San Onofre plant in California.
