How many pages is 1,200 words double spaced?

In a double-spaced paper in 12-point Times New Roman font, which is standard for both MLA and APA papers, 1,200 words is equivalent to about five pages. In both APA and MLA formats, the margins must all be set at 1 inch.

For comparison, in other 12-point fonts, if the paper uses Arial or Calibri fonts, it will only reach around four pages. Using Verdana, Comic Sans or Courier fonts will result in over five pages of text. Actual word count should always be within 10 percent of the word count assigned for any academic paper; thus, a 1200-word paper should contain between 1,080 and 1,320 words unless the instructor states specifically that the 1,200 words is a minimum or maximum.
