Ford released 1,002 limited-edition replicas of the Gran Torino from "Starsky and Hutch" in 1976. In the ABC TV show "Starsky and Hutch," the detectives drove a red 1975-1976 Gran Torino with a white vector stripe.
With all of its options, the "Starsky and Hutch" Gran Torino replica cost upwards of $7,000 and was the last Gran Torino model offered before Ford replaced it completely with the LTD line. The 2B bright red paint color was revived from the 1972 line-up and required a white undercoat to avoid bleed-through. A properly aligned drill pattern on the back of the fuel door can help confirm authencity.
