How do you find the area of a kite?

The area of a regular kite can be determined by multiplying the lengths of the two diagonals and dividing the product by 2. If d1 and d2 are the lengths of the two diagonals of a kite, then the area of the kite can be found with this formula: (d1xd2)/2.

For this formula to work, the diagonals of the kite must be perpendicular to each other, and one diagonal must be bisected by the other. This formula is also used for determining the area of a rhombus. The area of a kite can also be calculated by a trigonometric formula. If a and b are the lengths of two unequal sides of a kite, and if C is the angle between them, the area of the kite can be found with this formula: absinC.
