What are trick math questions?

Trick math questions are math problems that may seem simple to solve on first look but involve some element or twist that makes them somewhat complicated to solve. They help with the development of careful thought processing.

The following is a simple example of a trick math question used by a CEO during job interviews: "A hammer and a nail cost $1.10, and the hammer costs $1 more than the nail. How much does the nail cost?" The question is tricky because it is phrased in such a way that, if an applicant is not listening closely enough, the phrase "more than the nail" may easily go unheard. This would lead him to say that the answer is a dime. The correct answer is a nickel.
