The MBBS is an undergraduate degree that results in a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. This degree is two separate degrees that take approximately 4 to 6 years to complete depending on the university, but the graduate receives them at the same time. This degree is similar to a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in the United States.
The curriculum varies by institution, but all cover the basic sciences and the medical sciences. Students complete an internship of 1 to 2 years, depending on the institution. Some universities also have an alternative or natural medicine component.
