In the United States, McDonald's does not have a corporate-wide age requirement for crew members. However, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, the legal minimum age to work for any employer is 14 years old.
According to McDonald's.com, more than 80 percent of McDonald's restaurants in the U.S. are owned and operated by franchisees, many of whom have their own employment requirements. Along with crew members, management and support positions have no specific age requirement; however, a minimum of a high school diploma or GED is typically required. McDonald's offers educational assistance and scholarships to employees who seek training in various academic fields.
