However, synthetic cannabinoids are already available in prescriptions that are used to treat nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite in chemotherapy patients.

Under medical marijuana programs in some states in the United States, marijuana is used to treat the symptoms of glaucoma, although the benefits of the drug have not been proven to be any more beneficial than the currently approved medical alternatives for the condition, notes Drugs.com. Topical application of marijuana has not been proven to have any effect on glaucoma symptoms.
