Does Medicare provide a free ReliOn glucose meter?

Medicare does not provide a free ReliOn glucose meter, but it is covered under Medicare Part B. The glucose meter is considered durable medical equipment, or DME, under Medicare Part B.
Along with the ReliOn glucose meter, Medicare Part B covers blood sugar test strips for the meter, blood sugar testing monitors, insulin, lancet devices and lancets, glucose control solutions, and therapeutic shoes or inserts. The ReliOn glucose meter allows diabetics to test their blood sugar level more frequently with only a small amount of blood. The meter is available through local pharmacies and grocery stores. Medicare provides a complete list of where the meter is available by entering a ZIP code on its website.
