Some medications for sea sickness are dimenhydrinate, sold under the brand name Dramamine, and diphenhydramine, sold under the brand name Benadryl, as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Adults can take these medications one hour before travel to prevent queasiness, dizziness and stomach problems.
Ginger may also limit sea sickness and motion sickness, but the National Institutes of Health warns that clinical studies on the herb have been mixed. In some trials, patients reported that taking ginger delayed the onset of nausea and reduced the severity of stomach upset and vomiting. In other tests, patients reported no benefits.
