More women are diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension than men, as reported by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The condition occurs when a person experiences high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs.
As the blood pressure stays high, it can cause damage to the lungs, especially if it is not treated over time. If high blood pressure is left untreated for long periods, it can also damage the heart. Some of the most common symptoms of pulmonary hypertension include fatigue, lightheaded feelings and angina, or chest pains. If there is underlying condition, additional symptoms can be present. Only a doctor can diagnose the condition and recommend proper treatment.
