Current Michigan sales tax rates are available at Michigan.gov, according to the Michigan Department of Treasury. As of 2015, Michigan does not provide a sales tax rate chart, as state law does not permit additional city and local sales taxes and rates are the same statewide.

As of 2015, the sales tax rate for electricity and home heating fuels, such as natural and artificial gas, is 4 percent, according to the Michigan Department of Treasury. The sales tax rate for all other goods sold in Michigan is 6 percent. A companion use tax of 6 percent applies to all goods shipped into Michigan from online, mail and phone retailers and also applies to shipping and handling costs.
