A "microlambert" is a measure of brightness that is equal to one-millionth of a lambert. The measure of 1 lambert is defined as the brightness of a surface that is perfectly diffusing and that reflects 1 lumen per square inch.

The lambert was named after 18th century German physicist Johann Lambert. It is used by engineers, astronomers, photographers and physicists. The foot-lambert, a related unit of brightness, is used in the movie and video game production industries.

The lumen used in the calculation of a lambert is defined as the amount of light streaming from a volume of space from a point having an intensity of 1 candela.
