Mike Lupica's book "Travel Team" is about a 12-year-old named Danny Walker whose life dream has been to succeed at basketball like his dad, a former professional player. The problem is that he is deemed by a travel team coach to be too small to make the team.

The team is the same one for which Danny's dad played, and Danny is devastated when his dream seems to be crumbling. Danny's dad suggests beginning a new travel team. Despite a number of obstacles, this new team takes shape with his dad as its coach. Published in 2004, Mike Lupica used his own son's experience as his inspiration for the book.
