What is a mini truck?

A mini truck is a light, tiny right-hand drive truck built to satisfy the Japanese statutory class of light vehicles. The truck has four wheels and started in the mid to late 1980s for the purpose of transporting small loads. It falls under the sub 1000cc engine category.

Companies and individuals use mini trucks for low tonnage cargo delivery, home delivery of appliances and delivery of light loads over short distances. The trucks are popular because they are easy to build with very few store-bought parts involved. They are available in RWD and 4WD versions. Each truck comes standard with seat belts, windshield wipers, headlights and turn signals.
